Former soccer player Regan Gibbs got killed by her husband Chad Joseph Marek.
According to Lawrence police, Regan Noelle Gibbs (Marek), 25, was found fatally injured in a property in the 2500 block of West 6th Street. Later, she was pronounced dead on the scene. The event was reported shortly before 7:30 p.m.
Who Is Regan Gibbs’s Husband Chad Joseph Marek?
Regan Gibbs’ husband, has been charged with first-degree murder, according to multiple news sources. He appeared in Douglas County District Court on Tuesday, was given a $1 million bail, and was scheduled to return to court on May 24.
According to the Lawrence Police Department, the event happened at 2500 W. 6th St., and a 26-year-old suspect identified as Chad Joseph Marek was arrested and charged with murder at the scene. Domestic abuse was one of the major factors under investigation.
Marek and Gibbs were married in November, according to court documents. Marek’s mental health was an issue when police arrived at the couple’s flat, according to police. Upon investigation, Chad revealed to the police that he was ordered by God to kill her.
Other than his mental illness, there is little to no information available on Chad. He can neither be traced on Instagram nor Facebook and further details on him are yet to be revealed by the sources.

Former soccer player Regan Gibbs died Monday at the age of 25, according to a release from Kansas Athletics, and her death is the subject of a homicide investigation, according to a separate announcement from Lawrence Police Department.
Her relative writes on a Gofundme for Regan Gibbs that she was a lovely, kindhearted kid who adored Jesus. She intended to return to school to pursue a degree as a physician’s assistant and use her training on mission trips.
Joyce Corwin, a neighbor, said that he believed that it was just too early to take a life. Lawrence Police Chief Rich Lockhart stated that he could not imagine what they’d been going through now.
Her cause of death is unknown. Police said they couldn’t tell because of her state, and an autopsy is expected on Thursday. Domestic abuse is being investigated as a possible role in this case. The police department would not reveal whether they had been to their flat on previous calls, but Marek was not on their radar.
