Larry Namer is an entrepreneur in the entertainment and media industries. He co-founded E! Entertainment Television and Movies USA Magazine with Alan Mruvka.

Namer attended Abraham Lincoln High School, where he received his diploma in 1966. He subsequently went on to Brooklyn College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1971. Soon after graduating, he began working as an assistant cable splicer at what was then known as Sterling Manhattan Cable, which was subsequently purchased by the Time Warner corporation. After many years working as a technician, he rose to the position of Vice Chairman of the Cable TV section of the Electrical Workers Union (EWU). By the age of 25, he had risen to the position of Director of Operations at Manhattan Cable, and a year later had been promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing. In 1979, he was promoted to the position of Director of Corporate Development, where he was tasked with developing companies generated from the usage of cable TV networks for purposes other than entertainment.

He was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of Valley Cable TV in Los Angeles. He got more engaged in the programme department as time went on. With his buddy Alan Mruvka, Namer came up with the idea of starting up a television network called Movietime, which would later be renamed E! Entertainment Television. Namer and Mruvka were ultimately forced to sell their share in the business they founded. In 1989, the National Cable Television Association presented him with the President’s Award, which he accepted. While continuing to serve on the E! board of directors, he established a media business in Russia.
