Kathryn Tappen is an American sportscaster who works on NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the Notre Dame Football, Football Night in America and the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
Kathryn Tappen was born on April 9, 1981, in Morristown, New Jersey, the United States to parents, Sheila M. Tappen and Richard G. Tappen.
Kathryn Tappen went to high school at Villa Walsh Academy. She eventually received academic and athletic scholarships to attend Rutgers University where she majored in journalism and graduated in 2003.
Kathryn Tappen was a four-time Academic All-American and Big East All-Star as a Scarlet Knight. She started in College Sports Television and later joined WJAR in Providence, R.I., where she served as both a weekend anchor and weekday sports reporter.
Kathryn Tappen subsequently moved to NBC in the summer of 2014. She won the “Woman of Inspiration” award presented by the Boston Chapter of Women in Sports and Events in 2014.
