Josh Demas has an ear condition called cauliflower ear. This condition of his ear is not unique to Josh.
Looking at his ear, it looks quite disfigured and looks a bit different. But Josh was not born with this condition. This was created due to his wrestling career.
Cauliflower ear is a slang word term for a medical condition of Perichondrial hematoma. A condition where the ear of an individual is swollen, poorly shaped, and looks disfigured due to receiving a repetitive beating on the ear.
Cauliflower ear occurs in an individual due to them receiving a single hard blow or multiple blows to the ear during combat sports such as wrestling, boxing, MMA and similar fighting sports.
This beating causes injury to the ear which leads to blockage of blood flow and damaging the tissue in the ear preventing for them to return to their original shape.
This leads to an appearance similar to a cauliflower on the part of the ear, looking lumpy.
Josh has been a player in wrestling since his high school days. Due to his choice of sport, he has had repeated friction injuries to his ears.
That mostly happens when a wrestler’s ear is compressed and rubbed on the mat by an opponent. This causes the skin and cartilage of the ear to be separated and causes bleeding between them.
If the problem is treated early, the deformity can be reduced or prevented depending upon the situation. If not, there will be no more cure for underlying cartilage which will end the result of cauliflower ear.
Josh Love Is Blind Had A Wrestling Career
Josh Demas from Love Is Blind has been in fighting sports since his high school days. Demas is mostly into wrestling.
The reality star Demas was born on June 12, 1991, in Tempe, Arizona. Since a young age, he was very much into wrestling due to the influence of WWE.
This led him to participate in his high school wrestling, where he became a two-time state champion.
After graduating his high school, he joined Ohio State University, where he continued his passion for wrestling which ushered him to earning him All-American honors in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
Demas also competed in amateur MMA bouts where he has yet to make his professional debut. But he holds the record of 2-1, with his last fight being in 2017 with Blangiardo at Gladius Fights 29. Though he lost the match.
Later he also went to Thailand to train himself in Muay Thai at Tiger Muay Thai. But from the suggestion of Adam Jones, he got into learning Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which guided him to a tournament back in L.A. There he ended up getting a blue belt.
He also participated in IBJJF no-gi World Championship in 2019. He was defeated by Izaak Michell, which stopped him position moving forward from the second position.
